VR and fitness-related startups have attracted significant venture capital investments. In 2021, VR fitness company Supernatural raised $30 million in a Series B funding round led by venture capital firm Lightspeed Venture Partners. For Corporate Investments, Facebook’s subsidiary Oculus has invested in VR fitness platforms, such as FitXR, which raised $6.3 million in a funding round led by Hiro Capital and Maven Capital Partners.

Data from the VR Fitness Insider survey suggests that VR workouts can provide higher calorie burn compared to traditional fitness activities. For example, Beat Saber, a popular VR rhythm game, was found to burn an average of 6.18 calories per minute, comparable to intense cardio activities.
