Phoenix Court came alive once again for the finale of the year, the BLACKOUT TUESDAY VC #19 Christmas 2024 Social on 3rd December 2024. Guests were treated to mouthwatering Christmas treats and refreshments courtesy of Phoenix Court Group ahead of an exclusive fireside chat with Adrian Joseph OBE, that was moderated by June Angelides, MBE.
Providing insights into his technological journey thanks to in excess of 20 years’ experience in AI, big data, analytics, and digital strategy, Joseph captivated a jam-packed audience through this riveting session. A Q & A opened up to developers asking what the future holds. As the former Chief Data and AI Officer at BT, where Adrian Joseph OBE led 1,600 experts in advancing BT’s digital capabilities and fostering new data and AI centric businesses, we can now see how his legacy has developed. The BT co-pilot initiative has been unveiled, with Mark Briers, Director of Data Science & AI of BT Group proudly reporting during his KEYNOTE at the Amazon Web Services (AWS) GenAI Data Day in central London on 15th October 2024, that AI-enabled solutions have already generated some spectacular results as follows:

- 1,000 engineering days saved
From 2020-2023, Adrian Joseph OBE held the role of Expert Member of the UK AI Council, advising the UK Government on the National AI strategy. Prior to BT, Joseph was a senior Partner and Head of Data and AI at Ernst & Young and spent over 10 years at Google holding various senior leadership roles with a focus on cloud, digital and data science.
LATESTSALE.COM FOUNDER Q & A WITH ADRIAN JOSEPH OBE
While Artificial intelligence and emerging technologies offer new opportunities to innovate and scale, the LatestSale.com Founder asked Adrian Joseph OBE how innovation can be retained as start ups scale. Joseph much like many VCs and investors insisted that focusing on a MOAT should be a Founder’s priority as well as offering best in class solutions that provide the most appropriate use cases for AI, emphasizing the need to build technology tools that balance progress alongside human impact. Joseph also proclaimed that innovation can derive from enterprises of all sizes.
NON-TECHNICAL FOUNDERS- THE NEXT UNICORNS?
As the debate continues beyond Phoenix Court, Founders and developers wonder how the tech landscape is changing and which types of unicorn Founders may be formed in future. Questions abound with VC Partner Payton Dobbs at Hoxton Ventures asking during his separate AWS Gen AI Data Day Fireside chat “Navigating GenAI: Best Practices for Non-Technical Decision Makers & Founders,” on 15th October 2204, if the era of the “Non technical solo Founder unicorn” had begun.
